5 hair tools every natural should have

I think that every woman natural, relaxed or other (lol) should have the following hair tools. They do not necessarily have to be top of the line; in fact you can recycle old items and help the planet. I have a whole basket of things and tools for my hair. I even save old bottle and containers for future use this is sort of a mess as I now have too many small containers all over the place.

In no particular order of importance here are a few tools to have for your hair:

1. Plastic cap/shower cap: these are good for treatments or just protecting your style during a bath. They are usually very cheap and hold up for quite a few wears. Alternatively you can use the plastic bags that you get from the stores, recycling will help the planet and that is something you can feel good about.

2. Wide tooth comb: these days I have started combing my hair again, a few months ago I went weeks with combing. Howe ever detangling was a nightmare back then. Now that my hair is a bit longer, I use a wide a tooth comb when I condition or treat my hair. Also when styling, it’s best to start off with a wide tooth comb so all your hair doesn't break in the name of combing.

3. Spray bottle: every natural should have at least two spray bottles, it’s important to have back up in you arsenal. Spray bottles can be used for a number of things; when your hair feels dry and you need to moisturize or you need to water down a certain product you have in your hair or you just want to refresh your hair mid-week or between styles. You can buy a proper spray bottle or just reuse an old one that had product in it.

4. Satin scarf or bonnet: If you have been natural for even a few months, no one has to tell you how much trouble a short nap without a stain bonnet or scarf can cause you.

5. Old tee or microfiber towel: Natural hair can take ages to dry; sometimes the temptation to use my regular towel to dry my hair is high. But wrapping my hair in an old tee shirt saves me some time especially for wash-and-go. I do not know when one can get a microfiber towel in Lagos but if you live abroad I am sure they are pretty easy to find.

So there you have it five must haves for your hair. What tools do you think should be on this list?
